Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 is an edition of Microsoft Office that includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft OneNote. Other Office programs such as Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Access and Microsoft InfoPath are not included in this edition. Office 2010 must be activated once it has been installed, even if it is an upgrade from an earlier edition of Office. Microsoft provides two ways to activate your software: by phone and by Internet.
Open your Microsoft Office application from the “Microsoft Office” folder of your Start menu.
Click the “File” tab, then “Help,” then “Activate Key.”
Click “Activate by using the Internet” to automatically submit your product ID to Microsoft. It will be sent securely and your keycode will not be transmitted over the network. Microsoft’s servers will reply with an authorization and your copy of Office will be immediately activated.
Click “Activate by using the telephone” if Internet activation was unsuccessful. You will need to be at your computer when you call and have your product key ready for the support representative, and then call the number listed on your screen. This number is based on your geographic region, Office version and distributor so it will differ between installations.
Provide the customer service representative with the installation ID presented on your screen. Type the confirmation number the representative provides you into the “Confirmation ID” box at the bottom of the activation wizard screen. Press “Enter” and Office 2010 Home will be activated.
