How to Install the Xerox Printer Driver software for Windows

If your computer is present in Active Directory

From the “Start Menu”, choose “Printers and Faxes”

Right‐click in the “Printers and Faxes” window and choose “Add Printer”

Click “Next” on the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen

Select “Add Network Printer”

Click “Next”

Select “Find a printer in the Directory”

Click “Next”

Note the printer name as shown on the printer label, e.g.; SHERB1317 of the printer you want to connect to

Enter this name into the Name field

Click “Find Now”

Select the printer

Click “OK”

Do not set the printer as your default printer

Click “Finish” to complete the installation

You should now see the new Xerox printer in your Printers and Faxes window.

 If your computer is not present in Active Directory

If your computer is not in Active Directory

Then your first step will be:

1) Make a connection to the printer’s IP address

2) Manually install the Xerox printer driver software

Next step is you need to call 3398 to obtain the IP address of the Xerox printer

Choose from the 32bit directory or the 64bit directory, depending on your Operating System

Create a new directory on your computer and name it PS

Copy the files over into the new directory

Make an IP connection to the Xerox printer

Go to the “Start Menu”

Select “Printers and Faxes”

Right‐click in the “Printers and Faxes window”

Select “Add Printer”

Click “Next” on the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen

Select “Local printer attached to this Computer” and un‐select “Automatically Detect my Printer”

Select “Create a New Port and select Standard TCP/IP Port”

Select “Next” on the TCP/IP Wizard

Enter the printer’s IP address

If you have not already, you must call 3398 to obtain the IP address

Leave the default Port Name

Click “Next”

Click “Finish” to complete the TCP/IP connection

Install the printer Driver

Choose Have Disk and browse to the location (new folder named PS) where you copied the Xerox driver files

Select the X2UNIVP file

Click “Open”

Click “OK”

Select “Xerox Global Print Driver”

Enter a name for the printer and select “No to default printer”

Select “Do not share this printer”

At this point of time there is no need to print a test page at this time, so select “No”

Click “Finish” to complete the installation

You should see the new printer in your Printers and Faxes folder
