How to Install an Intel Graphic Media Accelerator Driver

You are here:

A device driver receives instructions from an application and translates that information for a specific computer component. If the driver for your Intel Graphic Media Accelerator is missing, the operating system won’t be able to communicate with the graphics adapter and instead will utilize a generic driver to output video. A generic driver does not offer all of the features of an Intel driver; for example, the software might not be able to render 3D or increase the screen resolution above 1024 x 768. You can obtain the latest version of the Intel Graphic Media Accelerator from the Intel website.

Press “Windows-X” and select “Device Manager” from the pop-up menu. Double-click “Display Adapters” to view the drivers installed on the computer.

Double-click the Intel driver to see its full name. Launch a Web browser and navigate to Intel Download Center from a browser.

Select “Graphics” as the product family and then select “Desktop Graphics Drivers,” “Laptop Graphics Drivers” or “Netbook and Tablet Graphics” as the product line.

Choose the appropriate product from the “Product Name” drop-down menu and then click “Find.”

Choose your operating system from the list and then click “Status” to find the latest version of the graphics driver.

Select the appropriate driver from the results and then click “Download” to download the file to the hard drive.

Double-click the EXE file when the download is completed. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the software to your computer.
