Before you can use the scanner in your Brother MFC multifunction device, you need to install it. After you connect the device to your computer, installation is essentially an automated process during which most of the work is done behind the scenes by your computer. Should you have problems, try a few quick troubleshooting procedures to remedy them.
To begin installing your Brother MFC device, connect its power cable to an electrical outlet and then connect its USB cable to your computer. Turn on the MFC device and wait for the computer to detect it. Once your computer recognizes the device, it will automatically begin installing any necessary drivers. A setup wizard will appear on your screen to guide you through the process. You may need to connect to the Internet in order to download the drivers.
If you have trouble downloading the drivers, verify that you are connected to the Internet. If you can’t connect to the Internet, check the box in which your MFC device was packaged for a CD or USB stick containing the drivers. Insert this CD or stick into your computer and follow the prompts to install the drivers.
Depending on your MFC model, you may need to insert printer toner cartridges before you can install the device. Check the documentation that came with the MFC device for more information.
