The HP Officejet 4315 is part of Hewlett-Packard’s all-in-one line of printers. This means that the HP Officejet is not only a printer, but is also a fax machine and a scanner. Users have reported some common problems that occur with the HP Officejet 4315. Many of these problems, however, can be solved by following a few key troubleshooting steps. You may need to take your printer in for repair if the troubleshooting steps are not effective at solving your problem.
- Check how much paper is on the tray. If you are experiencing frequent paper jams, make sure that you are not exceeding the maximum tray capacity. According to the HP user guide, the HP Officejet 4315 can only handle 10 mm of paper in the paper tray.
- Remove any paper jams if you are experiencing an error message on the display on the front of the printer. To do this, lift up the automatic document feeder located on the front of the printer. Then, gently pull the paper from the rollers.
- Update the HP software if the HP product assistant continually displays on your computer screen. This will usually happen each hour if this occurs. See the Resources section below for a link to the updated drivers. Download and install the drivers.
- Verify that the phone cables are properly inserted into the wall jack and the back of the printer if you are receiving a “Phone off the hook” error message.
- Perform a partial reset if you are experiencing problems scanning or printing your document. To do this, disconnect the power cord from the wall. Then, hold the “#” and “3” while reconnecting the power cord. Release the buttons once the cord is plugged in. Try to rescan or reprint your document.
- Perform a semi-full reset if the partial reset did not work. To do this, unplug the power cord. Hold “#” and “6” buttons while plugging the cord back in. Then, release the buttons and try to rescan or reprint your document.
