Even if you’re not keeping a some sort of treasure map on your computer, it’s still equally important to have a password for Windows. If you feel like someone cracked your password, you’ve been using the same password for quite some time and would like to be safer, or you simply just want to change it, you can choose from three different options of changing your password in Windows 10.
You can always go with setting a regular password, which is recommended to be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Ideally, it is best if the new password is at least eight characters long. This article will show you how to set or change your existing password on a Windows 10 computer.
STEP 1: Tap or click the Start button at the lower-right hand corner of the screen, then tap or click Settings.
STEP 2: Tap or click on Accounts, then select Sign-in options.
STEP 3: Under Password, tap or click on the Change button.
STEP 4: To change your password, enter your current Microsoft account password in the field provided, then tap or click Sign in.
NOTE: Microsoft will send you a new code to change your password through the phone number that is associated with your account.
STEP 5: Enter the last four digits of your phone number to verify it is the correct number, and then press [Enter].
STEP 6: Once you have received the new code on your mobile phone, enter it in the field provided.
STEP 7: Enter your old password, and then type in your new password twice in the corresponding fields, and then tap or click Next.
STEP 8: Wait for the message on the next screen saying that you have successfully changed your password to confirm that the procedure is complete.
