The Google search engine provides various ways for users to customize their Web searching experience. You can edit search preferences to better suit your needs and enable content filters. You can also change your Google homepage color by selecting a new background. Choose from user-submitted images or upload a background directly from your computer’s hard drive.

  • Open your Web browser and navigate to Google.com.
  • Locate the “Change Background Image” link on the bottom left side of the page, and then click it. A dialogue window will open. This link is sometimes found in different locations on the Google homepage, depending on browser.
  • Click the “Public Gallery” tab in the left sidebar to view public backgrounds.
  • Click on an image to choose it, and then click the “Select” button. The image will load to your Google homepage background.
